Great Job !!

caregivers
Kathy Justy our EMT Instructor extraordinaire involved her students in a learning experience that not only benefited the students but was a wonderful help to some deserving families. Kathy and her students volunteered with the Under His Wings Ministry Respite Program. This program provides some much needed time off for caregivers of family members with special needs. Any caregiver will confide that the occasional break from their responsibilities is appreciated beyond measure. As for the students, they gained experience with many different maladies. Many conditions require special accommodations and communication skills to be used. Learning and using these will benefit the students in their careers as EMTs. After their experience with real life conditions, students researched and wrote a report on the disease process they observed and worked with. Barb and Mary, the administrators of the respite program, report that the families in this program were more than pleased with the students. Kathy and her students are invited back at any time. So we will add our praise to that of the Under His Wings Respite Program for a job well done.

CPR

April Fools' 1
April 1 will again see the Academy teaching the monthly CPR class. This open class is held every first Wednesday of the month. While we appreciate and encourage pre-registration, you can just walk in. Class starts at 9 a.m. Tried to think of a very funny April Fools’ Day/CPR joke for this space but knowing CPR is important so I will ignore the urges of my sense of humor.

Paramedic Graduation

This Sunday will be special for the Academy. We will celebrate the graduation of our Paramedic Class. The ceremony will be at the Ramada Inn in Elyria from 1300 – 1500. This observance not only celebrates the students that have worked so hard over the last year but it is a chance for the students and staff to acknowledge the contributions of family and friends to the educational process. It takes a great deal of support for these prospective paramedics to get through the class and all the demands that entails. So a good support system plays an integral and very important role in the students’ success. So the sound you hear on Sunday will be a collective sigh of relief that class is over followed by an joyous shriek for a goal accomplish and maybe a few sniffles and tears because one door is closing and another is opening
